Facial rejuvenation, which includes an impressive selection of injectable fillers, is the hottest area of plastic surgery today. While not as long-lasting as surgery, many of these in-office medical procedures boast a quicker recovery period, are lower in cost, and incur much less discomfort to the patient.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Mischnick can outline which of these amazing “tools” can be used to accomplish your goals. Set up a time to meet with her today.
Injectables:
“Injectables” are just what the name implies: A substance that is injected with a syringe into a facial area to fill out and thus decrease the appearance of wrinkles. There are many brand-name fillers, such as Radiesse®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvaderm®, all of which Dr. Mischnick can discuss and recommend the one right for you.
The best known of these injectables are Botox® and Dysport®, which actually are not fillers, but a substance that temporarily diminishes the facial muscle function that causes a contraction, or wrinkle, in the face. Botox® and Dysport® are useful tools that often delay or eliminate the need for surgery.
Botox® and Dysport® are FDA approved for cosmetic use and are used in an office setting. It takes 3-7 days for the full effect of this drug to be apparent. Initial injections have a 3 month effect. As the expression muscles are used less and less, it takes lesser amounts and less frequent use of Botox or Dysport to maintain the relaxed facial appearance.
